The site covers an area of ​​34,941 m² and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The cemetery was designed by Herbert Baker in collaboration with John Truelove. A wall of black flint boulders, covered with white natural stone, surrounds the cemetery. The entrance building is also made of black flint. To the rear is the semicircular Tyne Cot Memorial with the names of 33,783 missing British soldiers and, in a separate place, another 1,176 missing New Zealanders.

There is a pavilion at each end of the Memorial Wall. In the center of the site is the Cross of Sacrifice, built on top of a bunker that served as a German command post before the conquest. The Stone of Remembrance is at the back, between the Memorial to the missing and the Cross of Sacrifice. Two bunkers are at the front of the cemetery, two others are at the back, under the pavilions on either side of the Memorial wall.

In the entrance building is the box containing the register with the names and location of the graves. There is also a Visitors book in which one can write a message. On the outside of the entrance there are three memorial plaques in Dutch, French and English. They mention this text: "This land was forever donated by the Belgian population to the Allied troops, out of gratitude for their efforts". This cemetery is an Open Cemetery, which means that remains from the surrounding battlefields can be buried. On November 6, 2018, three more unidentified dead were buried, two Australians and one Briton.

Achteraan bevindt zich de halfcirkelvormige Tyne Cot Memorial met de namen van 33.783 vermiste Britse soldaten en, in een afzonderlijke apsis, nog eens 1.176 vermiste Nieuw-Zeelanders.

Aan elk uiteinde van de Memorialmuur staat een paviljoen. In het toegangsgebouw bevindt zich het kastje waarin het register met de namen en de locatie van de graven. Er is ook een Visitors book waarin men een boodschap kan schrijven. Aan de buitenzijde van de ingang hangen drie gedenkplaten in het Nederlands, Frans en Engels. Ze vermelden deze tekst: "Deze grond werd voor eeuwig door de Belgische bevolking aan de geallieerde troepen geschonken, uit dankbaarheid voor hun inzet". Deze begraafplaats is een Open Cemetery, d.w.z. dat er nog stoffelijke resten uit de omringende slagvelden bijgezet kunnen worden. Op 6 november 2018 werden nog drie ongeïdentificeerde doden begraven, twee Australiërs en een Brit.

Er liggen 11.957 doden begraven, waarvan 8.369 niet meer geïdentificeerd konden worden.

Il y a un pavillon à chaque extrémité du mur commémoratif. La Pierre du Souvenir se trouve à l'arrière, entre le Mémorial des disparus et la Croix du Sacrifice. Deux bunkers sont situés à l'avant du cimetière, deux autres à l'arrière, sous les pavillons de part et d'autre du mur du Mémorial.

Dans le bâtiment d'entrée se trouve la boîte contenant le registre avec les noms et l'emplacement des tombes. Il existe également un livre d'or dans lequel on peut écrire un message.
